The Vista jail houses pre-trial males and females. The other San Diego women's jail is Las Colinas Detention located in Santee. Built in 1978, it was designed to hold nearly 900 inmates. The Vista jail provides a large array of medical services, including infectious disease control, psychiatrists, dentists, nurses and physicians.

This facility also serves as the primary pre-trial intake for North County San Diego. Inmates have full access to phones when they are housed, but cannot call until they are booked in completely.
