Smith Correctional Facility is located in Banning California off the Hargrave exit just south of the 10 freeway. It was originally opened in the 1920's as a road camp for prison road gangs.

Inmates are allowed two visits per week, with each visit approximately 45 minutes. Please be prepared to show valid identification and be prepared to be thouroughly searched before entering the facility. Inmates have access to phones when they are housed, but cannot call until they are booked in completely.

Expect release times after a bail has been posted to take approximatley 2-4 hours once a bail bonds has been posted. Because the jail is located in a resedential area they prefer released inmates to be picked up by friends or family. You can check in at the guard post pictured in the above photograph and tell them you are there to pick up the defendant in question.
